It's a GREAT PLACE for small mouth bass April-November!
A "normal day" is over 100 bass each person! My biggest out of that part of the Columbia is 4lbs 14oz. Try the rocky shore just up stream from the D. River! Also the rip rap on the Oregon side near the dam can hold some BIG small mouth!

Another good area in that pool is behind Miller Island. One time after fishing for gators with Fly-by-nite charters, we broke off and went bass fishing. The guide, Allen, put us into some great smallie fishing along the riprap below the railroad tracks on the Washington side behind Miller Island. It was in May and we nailed them big time. It was also raining that day. I'll bet we caught over 30 smallmouth in about 1 hours time.

Pitchnboy, Don't limit your lures to just tubes. There are a myriad of ways to set up your terminal tackle for catching smallies. within the archives of this forum you should be able to find most of them. They are too many to list here. Sticking to your greens and browns is a good rule of thumb while using soft plastics. Change your crank baits until you find one that runs at the depth the fish are at. White, chart and blacks are good spinner bait colors. Do a little research here on this board and you will come away with dozens of ways to set up for the smallies. Good luck.

Celilo launch or Maryhill are other launch choices.

oh ya, be prepared for the 4 foot rollers ( and bigger)that you might encounter on any givin day(regardless of what the weather man says in ),a 4 mile boat ride is a long ways in that kind of water..
