WELCOME ABOARD!!!
Glad to have ya on Ifish!
jsmiley as in Jim Smiley?

So ya want to buy a "hole in the water"???
Ya know why they call them holes in the water?
Cuz it gives ya somewhere to throw you spare change....kinda like a wishing well.

I'm sure your watching tgreene's boat post, so the same thoughts/info apply for you. Just watch the Ifish Boats & Tackle page, classifieds, Craig's List, and the Boat Trader. Lots of sound alum SmokerCrafts, Spectrums, Crestliners, Lunds and such out there. I wouldn't rule out an old jet sled either, like the older Alumawelds & Steinsons. With a little front & rear decking added they can make excellent shallow water bass boats. I'd also put Lowe, G3, Roughneck, and Wareagle on the list as well. However the shortsided, shallow V/flat bottom boats can be a bit rough on the big C.R. It just depends on what you think you'll fish for more, deep water or shallow. I can get my ol Tracker into water I can't get my deep-V Crestliner.
I would also make sure I could get a electric bowmount mounted on it. An elec bowmount is a MUST HAVE! Trust me. I have an old MinnKota Autopilot on my Tracker and a bigger MK Autopilot on the Crestliner. The kicker & AP bowmount working together make a great trolling setup. Especially if you flip for the wireless remote for the bowmount. Sweet, just kick back and poke a button now & then to steer.
Hope this helps,
Hunt'nFish

Here's and old Starcraft:
Click here: Starcraft info (http://portland.craigslist.org/boa/130126444.html)

Old but it's a walk through, deep-V w/ tall sides and should make for a decent starter boat. I would negotiate on the price though. I see it's in Beaverton, holler if you want a pic & opinion, I could swing by for ya.

Thank you all so much. I got a semi-pro from Sacromento to sell me his 19' Champion w/ 150 OMC ('90) for only $3,000. It was a blessing from heaven if you know what I mean! I couldn't believe it b/c he had it listed for $5k but he just really wanted to sell it to a bass fisherman who was serious about bass fishing; he is a big advocate of the sport! Everything works fine and the engine checked out great. What a deal...seems like a good fishing season already... :yay:

Smiley,
I am planning to start guiding in a year or two. Im 20 now and 1/2 way to my degree. Bassin is my passion!!! I would love to hit the water any time.

Mike:
Awesome that you are getting out, yeah the school work is boggin me down!!! BUT I already have the means to buy a cheaper bass boat, saving up to buy one in the 15k range. Most likley a crestliner or somthing, if im lucky ill find a used skeeter.

Sandz,
Their is a used Champion over at Pier99, ~$14k. ready to run GPS, FF, MK AT Bowmount. Too much glitter for me. I like Shalom's Ranger better anyhow, white is just fine.

Keep up the classes, even if only one at a time.

That's right! So pat yourself on the back.
Skeeter, Ranger, Tracker, Lund....it makes no differance,
it's the Buckethead running the reel that catches the fish.
Of course I have to say that if you ever seen my ride!
A very rough 84 Tracker...Hey it floats and it's safe.

Of course if I had Bert's Walleye Edition Ranger, I'd be all for bashing Skeeter's!

Ah, we're just fun'n one another. Hey, I think it's getting about time to have lunch together isn't it???
Let's start a new "Buckethead's Lunch" thread.

I like the Skeeters for the design and capacity of storage. As far as rangers go those are wonderful boats as well, I just have some unspecified hook ups through skeeter ;-)
