I have seen in several post where you talk about dying your own prawns. How do you dye these prawns? Are they raw or are they cooked? What kind of dye do you use. Can they be frozen after dying them. Do you get them from the deli section at the supermarket??????? (I know that is a lot of questions) I tried to go to the old bulletin board to see if I could find a post, and cannot find the old bulletin board, does it still exist?
Hope your recovery is going well.

B.O.E.- People can still refer to the old DB; that I reference to avoid having to retype things. On the Ifish main page scroll down just a bit on the right side. There under Hot Fishing Links you will find both the Ifish Discussion Board (new BB) and under it the Old Dicussion Board. Click on the old DB, then scroll way back down to "Springers- Custom Prawn Curing- Part 1" by RT posted on 2/29. Just above it click on "Springers- Custom Prawn Rigging- Part 2" by RT on 3/1. Also read both of the addendums beneath those posts. Details will be there. -- Briefly, I buy the same whole cooked prawns that the bait dealers buy; Marcy brand boxed frozen whole prawns. Get them at some seafood stores (call around), seafood wholesalers, or some bait dealers. I cure them in the redish juice from salmon egg curing or my custom brine using Pro-Glo Red coloring (not Pro-Glo cure). For clearer water applications I cure them up a light pink- for the Willamette I cure them bright red. See the old DB for details. Another way is to get the Pro-Cure Prawn Curing powder with instructions (but you will do better with the other 2 methods). - Steve

B.O.E.,
You can buy "bait prawns" at Tony's Fish Market in Oregon City. You can buy them by the pound and get as many or as few as you need. Just like sand shrimp, pick the fresh ones without black on them. Good fishing and tight lines, dogfishboy.

I've experimented with jello and food coloring ,the results have been great ( what ever catches fish?)
