Nutt.- Nothin' better eatin' than those Trask springers right out of salt! Would you try a technique for me; and report here or to my e-mail the results. Check the old Discussion Board back down to 3/1 for my Custom Prawn Rigging for trolling. Try trolling them hooked up that way with a mid-leader spinner blade for flash & color attraction. For up there I use about a 50 to 55" 20# leader & about a 15" lead dropper with about a 2oz. lead to get the bait back from the boat aways. Slowly troll this setup with twirling bait action around the Cap Johnson to Oyster House areas in upper T- Bay and thru some of the deeper holes up in Trask tidewater (electric OB's are better for that- but not neccesary). If you cure the prawns yourself it is better to color them a light pink for clearwater situations, as opposed to bright red for the colored Willamette R. (but I think the red ones will work). They also work well threaded on a single hook tidewater/bobber rigup to fish as you would eggs or shrimp. I haven't fished T. springers since before the '96 floods, but the few times I tried the prawns there met with immediate excellant success- and I would like to hear how it works now (when you know fish are there of course). Thanks. - Steve

Fished the Trask Tidewater and the Oyster House yesterday 5/7. Saw 6 Springers boated in the morning on the outgoing tide(1 at Jack Salmon Pt.,5 at the Oyster House). All caught trolling spinners. Had one on for a brief moment(how can a fish not stick on a very sharp treble? Oh well!!!). Wind came up with the incoming so it was time to go. It should get alot better in the next two weeks as there are some big tides coming. Good Luck and Tight Lines!!!!
