Astoria sturgeon

I was wondering if anyone knows how the sturgeon fishing is around the first of may.I was going to launch at ilwaco and try from there up towards the bridge. Just wondering if it would be worth the drive. Thanks for any info.

Hard to say how it will be but for the last few years the fish have been there in the first part of May. Last year on the first weekend of May we hooked and released 45 fish and lost track of how many bites that were missed. We launch out of Deep River,and fish from there to the bridge. Time to get in the shallow water up on the flats.

The area above the Megler Bridge will usually produce fish this time of year. You might also consider the Naselle River. Sometimes the end of April and the beginning of May can be great. You might get an update from Eds Bait at 206 642-BAIT. Good luck and keep us informed if fishing is any good.
