Many of you regular Ifish readers are aware of my upcoming surgery this Wed.(26th). I don't particularly care to discuss my health challenges publicly, but in this case it could help save a few of you guys! So I must. For new readers, here's info about this situation and for another reminder for all men! - When us guys turn 50 we are supposed to have cancer screenings for colon and prostrate gland problems. Studies show that too many of us ignore the advice to have these done. I am fine for the former but I had a high PSA Factor reading from a blood test for prostrate concerns (5.2 result at 51 years of age a few weeks ago). 1 in 10 with this reading will have early curable prostrate cancer. I was in the 1 in 10 (diagnosed with biopsy). My cancer is very early, highly likely contained, and after surgical removal will have over a 90% chance for a total cure. That's why you guys are urged to get these easy painless tests! Go! - I will need to be hospitalized for 4 days. So I won't likely be near a computer for a few days. I had planned to have a tech article for Clack. & other large river springers, and a later one for coastal springers. They will come after I get back. The Clack. season peaks thru May and on thru much of June. Couple weeks later for the Trask, etc. - Bill and Jen are going to moderate this BB while I'm recovering. I hope that some of you Ifish guides and other good fishers will be of help when readers post questions here. As a matter of fact, I would like for continued help to answer readers Q's after I get back. Muliple opinions are a good thing. Thanks much, Steve

Enjoy the bedrest pal, sometimes I think we should all be forced to kick back for a few days just to unwind. I'd say that i'd catch a springer for you while you were gone but, well... it's me we're talking about here(c: Joe

Steve, I'm glad that you had the guts to have yourself checked so they could give you such a great prognosis. Thanks for the eye opener. Just know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers until you tell us that all went well. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't have to stay overnight prior to the procedure like people used to do. Just can't eat anything all day today & night. Penny had to put a chain and lock around the fridge. Anyway, it's nice to have encouragement from you people! Thank you very much. BTW Jeff, if your ... means a**, you've got the wrong side http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif . I'm fine in that region (really enjoy discussing my anatomy in a public forum- NOT!). The pro. gland is closer to the other side, in a region that will require a shave. Ever since I found that out I've been having a recurring nightmare that tomorrow morning in pre-op in will walk Richard Simmons with a razor.....YIKES! I always wake up just before he gets near- in a cold sweat (jk). - Actually I'll be in good hands and it should be no prob. Talk with you next week. Tight lines. Steve
