Anybody have a good one? Got a smoked ham from Vogets and would like to make a soup with the bone.
There is a new twist to bean soup and it is to substitute smoked turkey legs for the ham. Boil the smoked turkey legs and remove the meat to make the bean soup. It's real good.
Good Luck;
P.S. If you smoke salmon or fish the same recipe can be used to smoke turkey legs in the same way you would smoke fish. Using the same marnate etc.

Aunt Joyce's Best Cornbread EVER!
Made some last night and it was scrump-deli-ish-ous! :grin: It tastes like hot buttery cake!
Had it with my famous split pea soup, and I think we will have it in a few days with navy beans and ham! :smile:
Soup just sounds so good since it's so cold and rainy...

Nah Tramp...
Cornbread is for chilli, split pea, and ham & navy beans.
French bread is for Spahgetti, but only with garlic on it.
That and well, the birds.

Consider using Great Northern beans instead of navy beans. They have a natural smokey flavor to them which enhances the dish. They're found in most bulk-bin sections at the grocery store.
[edit] At least I'm consistant. I said the same thing in the other thread *sigh*
