Wana catch surf perch... HELP!

I really want to get into the surf perch.
Please post information on where to go and what to use to be sucessful. Info on rigging, bait and techniques would be very helpful. Also info on tides to fish and how to locate good spots would be greatly appreciated.

I can't help with locations much but I know most are caught just beyond or in the crashing surf and last time I went out I caught fish on nightcrawlers and crappie tubes on baitholder hooks and 3oz. pyramid sinkers... Joe
