Thanks again Craig Foster of the Clack. office of ODFW for this season's springer ramp counts! For Sat. Apr.15: O.C.- 45/184 boats (2/147 bank rods). Milw. to Port.- 47/138. Up & down from the Sellwood area seemed to be the most consistent area this season. St. John's to upper Channel- 30/145. Lower Channel- 23/124 (Dogfishboy; haven't heard from you lately. Did you score down there?).- I have requested ramp counts starting May 1st for the Will. & the lower Clackamas R. If they are able to send them you will see them on this BB. - Steve

Hey RT,

Even the best made plans can fall apart at the last second. That's what happened to my fishing plans. My fishing partner - who builds Loomis' new rod racks - needed some help, couldn't pass on opportunity to trade for a "STR1084c andSAR1084c." Anyway, fished Friday and Saturday, lost one at the boat Friday and didn't see very many others below Coon Island. One of the lucky ones - and there weren't very many of us - to get one right out of the gate on Saturday by 7:15am. Very slow the rest of the day. Got 4 more fish than last year - Lower Columbia fishery was a bonus!

Think I'll take a week or 2 off before I start working the upper Mollolla for Summer Steelhead. Then it's down to Tillamook for a month of weekends (need to work in some crab bait (shad) fishing on the channel) for some more springer action. Any coastal springer tech coming our way?

Good fishin' and tight lines, bow wow wow

BTW, LIKE the new stuff!

DFB- Glad you got into them. I will be putting up some springer tech soon for big rivers such as the Clackamas R. I haven't fished the Tillamook springers for years but I used to a lot, so I will put in some tips. Hopefully some of the locals will add some tips for that, but I wouldn't count on it. If the water is real low down there in May, book a trip with a guide that fishes both Trask tidewater & the upper bay near the oyster house to learn a lot. Thanks for your reports from the lower Channel during the season. - Steve
