The Sandy rose night before last and fish should be moving. I know of one Spring chinook and three summer Steelhead caught Thursday(the Chinook from the top end of the Church Hole, on diver and bait). I realeased a 10lb native winter Steelhead yesterday morning and heard about an 18 lb Springer caught at the Oxbow boat ramp yesterday afternoon. Two summer Steelhead in bags before 8:00 am this morning at the Oxbow boat ramp. The Sandy may be worth the effort the next couple weeks. Fly fishermen were doing very well in the Oxbow area before the river rose. Mark Bauchman, who guides out of the Fly Fishing shop in Welches has been consistently hooking his customers up with fish the last couple weeks, fishing Dodge to Oxbow.

I fished with Jack Glass yesterday 4/17 on the Sandy. One chinook was hooked and lost that we saw. We hooked and released a native. Will be on the river tomorrow 4/19.

yes....just stay to the right as you are heading up river.
Stay to the right works good once you're in the river. I'd say you should start near the middle, by the marker, and watch for snags. I skimmed through in my sled a few weeks ago . . . much to the surprise of some guys already in the river who commented on the snag field I'd just run through.

Hi all,
Didnt feel like taking the boat out today. Plunked at the Oxbow boat launch on the Sandy with 12 other people. I caught one native runback, about 10lbs, and lost a large chinook. Two other natives were caught by other fishermen there. No one had keepers today. Going to go tomorrow again, yes, I CAN fish on Easter...hahhahahahahha! : )
