Due to malicious threats I was unable to bring my gear me to Sunriver with me this weekend. I was able to bend the wife to my will with a veiled snow shoe trip though. I thought you all may appreciate these photos. I was in awe of the gin clear water and the monster bows I could see moving slowly in it. I can't wait to leave the wife at home for the next trip so I can fish it!

Hey FRG, being a newbie on that river is that a good spot to fish, or I guess I should say is that open right now? I was told that it was closed "below the falls". I just wasn't sure where I was. I was on the foot bridge taking those photos and I'm sure you know where that is. Any advice on someone who may be going back there the 28th and 29th with Meskel? You can PM if you want.

If you are seeing fish then it is a good place to fish IMHO. The foot bridge at the campground is approximately in the area where the red circle is located on the map. The falls is located where the magenta circle is on the map and the hatchery location is by the blue arrow. I would fish in the area from the hatchery up to the point source of the river. There is not much access down stream of the hatchery to the falls. There is some but the river has not fully recovered in this area after the fire retardant spill a few years ago. There can be a good BWO hatch mid-day. When the hatch starts fish a parachute pattern with an emerger dropper.

One thing that helped me when I got to fish it in late November was sinking the first 6"'s of tippet with Xink so the fish wouldn't see my 5x tippet. I was able to get some nice ones on BWO after I Xinked up the line.
