My Dad and I have been considering buying the new 2006 TRACKER Pro-guide V-16 WT. If there is any reason we should not buy this boat, please let me know. I think it is a FANTASTIC boatbut but I would appreciate the info from your guys point of view. Thank you. :nerd:

In a word, "Crestliner". I don't own one, but would like to. I own a Nitro. The wiring is a mess, straight from the factory. The transom sucked, until I had to have it rebuilt, after the warrenty was up. Many club members have had rivet problems with Tracker aluminum hulls and some had cracks adjacent to welds. It really bites to have to send the boat back to the factory during the middle of fishing season. This is my 3rd hull. I should have traded it for a Ranger or Champion, when this one was new. The second one only lasted a couple of months, before it had to go back to the factory.:bricks::shocked::whazzup: :yeahthat: :passout:

I have a Crestliner. In all the time I have owned it, (5 years), I have never had a problem of any kind with the boat itself. No transom problems, No hull problems and I have run it aground a couple of times, once at full speed, No wiring problems, No nuts or bolts coming loose, No problems with the boat at all. I use it up to 85 times per season. My only regret is that I got the carpeted style. The carpet is tough to keep clean.

Bassinator ,
I have a Ranger Walleye boat and have never had any problems . I have been thing about downsizing and have once again started looking at boats . I have looked at the Tracker boats and havn't heard or seen anything to worry about . I know that buchetmouths boat is well made and has held up great .That being said i am going to look at the
Triton DV176 magnum aluminum at the Nixon booth at the up coming Sportsmen's show in Feb . It has a couple of things that i like and have never found on other boats . I have never fallen out of a boat , but have stumbled on my front deck while operating the trolling motor . My Dog Daisey May
has laid down behind me and i have tripped once and nearly gone in . The Triton has a Flush to the transom Hideaway Boarding ladder that can be put down from inside the boat or put down while you are in the water . Since i fish by myself often this feature looks good to me . I can hardley wait till the Sportsmen show . I would suggest looking at the boats there because they are the boats that most fishermen will will be using .

Have I mentioned..... I REALLY like Shalom's Ranger? 20ft of the sweetest ride I've ever had!

I have a mid 80's Crestliner 18ft SST Phantom and it has given zero problems. I also have an old Tracker as well. Personally IMHO the Crestliner is better built and should take more C.R. abuse than the Tracker. Look at hull thicknesses, construction and hull warrenties. I know guys that have popped rivets on Lunds busting big water wind wave, so don't under estimate how rough the C.R. can get!

Consider livewell position and size. Transome livewells are friendlier to fish, bow wells kill fish. My Tracker's well is between the driver/passanger seat and this works well.

Let us know what you choose.
