Having not fished for a while due to the rain, I've been getting quite anxious to get back on the water. So I headed over to Junction City Pond to kill a couple hours this afternoon, even though it was raining. There were a few other people w/ bobbers sitting around. After about 45 minutes of fishing, a pair of State Troopers rolls in and starts checking licenses. Quick feel my pockets to make sure I have mine - oh shoot, it's back in the tacklebox... that is in my DEN at HOME! I had only taken a couple Plano trays with me and completely forgot the license. Well, 15 minutes later I'm landed with a $75 ticket for fishing w/o a license.
Lesson Learned - Never forget your fishing license at home!! I now keep a copy in my wallet just in case.

go to court and if youre lucky, the judge might throw it out. I got a ticket for riding my bike without lights after dark. When I went to court and showed the judge my lights, he dismised the case.... you have nothing to loose...
Good Luck

"other people with bobbers"
"plano trays"
So was the embarrasing moment the ticket or that you were fishing with gear?
Sorry about your luck.

A bit of both, lnf. My excuse for gear: the wind was howling and I didn't want to deal with it!

To make up for my poor choice of location and gear fishing, I'm hitting the SF Alsea today. I'll let you know how it pans out.

Show the judge your lisence, Exlain you have been a resident of Oregon for x many of years and show them that you have purchased your lisence every year as long as you can remember. Tell them you are getting old and forget sometimes even forget to flush the toilet, Sheet happens and he probably let you go.....
You are no criminal that's for sure.

As long as you can verify in court that your license shows the date/time of issue was prior to the date/time of the citation, you should be OK. Yeah, you're required to have it on you, but I was in a similar situation with my car registration once and I was let go with just a scolding not to forget it next time.

I thought you were going to be bringing your tube with you EF.... you could have just stayed in the middle of the "lake" and not let them get to you!
Ya see? That Junction City Pond (plus gear t'boot?!)is bad juju... I don't care how high the rivers are... I will resist.

Well, didn't make it to the SF Alsea today due to a mud slide. Tried to use logging roads to bypass it, but I ran into a locked gate quite a ways in. So, I put my tail between my legs and went back to the pond. Saw 2 monsters landed as well as one smaller steelhead.
MattyFlavor - that was my original idea, but then got lazy so I didn't bring the 'toon. I'm taking it, always, from here on out! But that pond really is bad luck. When are the rivers going to drop?!?!? It's killing me being cooped up indoors!

Oh yeah, and thanks to everyone who gave me "legal advice." I will try to wiggle my way out of this ticket. But I think I'm going to glue my fishing license to my arm so I never forget it - it will also make a killer tattoo!

Thanks for the post. I am planning on fishing Eagle Creek tomorrow and completely forgot that I haven't bought my 2006 license yet. I'll stop at Freddie's on the way out of town. Thanks again.
