Anyone up for a westside gathering ? A chance to swill your favorite barley, single malt or other beverage and tell each other lies, I mean tales of daring do and fish caught. Tuesdays and Wednesdays work best for me, but I could probably get a liberty pass for another night. I'm sure we can find a pub to accomodate all tastes.
No one voted and i don't want to blind side anyone who is headed to MF's without reading the post so it's.............

I could go for a night out. My wife owes me a couple...
Westside, eastside doesn't matter to me.

How does next Weds. the 11th sound ? I'm all for Mickey Finns on the west side, but Mark will have to provide directions. Darned if I could find it anywhere on the internet (or yellow pages)

Here is a link to it on Cityseach.com (http://portland.citysearch.com/profile/36598667/portland_or/mickey_finn_s_brew_pub.html). I'll drive by tomorrow and see if its still there.
If that doesn't work, we can always meet at the eastside Mickey Finn's, the unofficial home of the Ifish Flyfishers (according to Stew).

I won't be able to make the 11th, will be coming back from San Fran.
Maybe I could drop by on my way from the airport, depends on the time.
Westside Mickey's sounds fine to me

Breaking news! The westside Mickey Finn's hasn't been a Mickey Finn's for years. This is now the Rogue Ales Public House.
Also, just as an FYI, the eastside Mickey Finn's has changed ownership in the last couple of months. The net effect has yet to be determined...
You guys just tell me where to meet and I'll be there to hoist a beer with you all.

Just a suggestion. If eastside Mickey's isn't an option, there is always the Edgefield. I know Troutdale may be a bit TOO eastside for some folks, but hey, once you're east of I-205 it's only a few minutes further on I-84. Lot's of room, great food and even better beer! :food:
The only other downside is there's a good chance I will show up!

Edgefield is a great option, and don't forget that there are a ton of other brew pubs on the West side.

I have to confess that I'm generally a dive bar kinda of guy. Any suggestions a little closer in to town ? East side Mickey Finns or a more central downtown pub ?

I don't get out much any more but there is also the Kennedy School run by McMenimans in NE Portland. Eastside Mickeys used to be a great spot, but don't know what it's like since they changed owners. Doesn't matter to me though, just making some suggestions.

Okay, since we seem to be unable to come to a decision, how about this...
Let's meet at the eastside Mickey Finns (our usual hangout) on Wednesday the 11th, at 6:30 or so . If people show up earlier, that's great, if they show up later, that's nice too.

Hey guys- I have finally joined, and am now officially an ifish member, but haven't met many people yet. I would love to meet some new faces, fellow flyfishers, and am always up for a good fish tale.. and since you said that the ladies are invited, I'd like to meet you there, but not from that area, and don't know where Mickey Finns is located exactly.. I'd be coming from the North--any good directions that you can give me?

Mickey's in SE is on Woodstock Ave. and 43rd. Across the street from BiMart. It's a fishing theme family pub, with all kinds of fishing art and goodies. I've given them plenty of my mone over the years.

Speaking of Mickey Finns... Since we Ifishers seem to spend an inordinate amount of cash at this establishment, I wonder what the likelihood would be of signing them on as a sponsor of Ifish.
Giz or Stew. Any insight?

yah, maybe stew could get some free onion rings out of them.

Mickey Finns is ok. However, I learned of a place today we may want to consider. Paddy's bar and grill, Yamhill and first. Highly recommended by an Irish friend, good food, good selection of beers and scotch
So let's take a vote Mickey Finn's or Paddy's ?

Kurt,
Don't feel left out. If you can talk my wife into letting me get a pilot's license and buy a plane, all before the get-together, I'll fly down to get you. Actually, I've always wanted to get a pilot's license but my wife won't let me because I run out of gas in the car so often.
Anyway, we'll fish again soon on the North Umpqua and hit the Steamboat Inn for lunch or dinner.
Frank.

Hope you have better luck operating a plane that you did a pontoon boat Frank
