Bummer of a fishing report

The Mrs. and I took off for 3 days or blissful relaxation without the kid. That was awesome. We had hoped to fish the hood, but it was just plain ugly looking. It was also a little distressing when I saw an empty overturned kayak wash up on shore. I went back ijto town and alerted the sherif and local kayak shop. Hope the dude is ok. Then we figured we'd try Maupin. I should have called first.The Deschutes was just plain ugly looking also. We did fish it anyway. There were actually some whitefish taking bugs off the surface near shore. Was still great to be out and smell the fresh scent of sage in the air. Stopped in and chatted with the owners of the Deschutes Angler. Very nice folks.
Just got back and it's catch up time. Hoping for some dropping water soon, as we all are.

Sorry to hear the trip was a semi-bust. Even the Deschutes in town is a bit on the brown side this morning.

I'm curious on which way you drove over to Maupin? What were the road conditions like? I've seen some recent pictures of maupin with snow but they may be a little old. I can't seem to find a good update on the road conditions heading over there from Portland. Thanks

no worries on the roads. They are all clear. It warmed up and all's good. We took 197 south from the dalles.
