Well, I know that from time to time folks get to posting about their resolutions and goals... well, please indulge me and allow me to share with you all my Fly Fishing Goals and Resolutions for 2006. If you are so inclined, I'd love to see what everybody else is looking forward to doing in the coming year as well... Best Wishes to You All in the New Year!

MattyFlavor's 2006 Goals:
Fish 50+ times - accomplished by replacing Bowling League and Softball League with Wednesday Night - After Work Fishing... every week.
Catch a fish every month of the year
Successfully pull off a 9 Day Trip to Idaho, Montana and Eastern Washington/Oregon
*First Winter Steelhead
*First Summer Steelhead
*First Salmon from a river - springer, fall 'nook, silver... doesn't matter to me
Keep an in-depth Fishing Journal about each trip... this will become a page on my website called: "The FF-Log & Blog"
Improve my fishing vessel - I'd like a 2-man pontoon or a drifter, currently have a canoe that is appropriate for flat water only
Learn to tie flies - already in progress
Catch fish with my own flies
Teach my daughter to fly fish and take her fishing ALOT!
... and maybe the longest shot of all... get my 2 year old son to reel in his first fish (probably still a little early for this, but I know a great little bass pond and by the end of summer he should have the dexterity, right?!)

(* - I am not so proud that I will only reach these particular goals on the fly... if I get 'em with gear, I'll take it at this point! My "hours spent - to salmonoids caught" ratio is tilting too far in the wrong direction, so statistically speaking, I'm due.)

I am really psyched to have gotten involved with a local FF-Club. That single step should help me reach most, if not all, of these goals.

Well, that's all I got... now, if I get anywhere near these goals by this time next year, I may just... :passout:

I think there'll be a lot of this... going on as well...

good list...i'm looking forward to this year as well. i have three goals for the year.

1) fish even more with my daughter elia. she turns one in two weeks and loves to ride along in the backpack. i'm hoping to keep getting out with her as often as possible on short trips.

2) catch a shad on the fly. i've talked about it, but never tried...seems that with 5million fish i could make this one happen!

3) 20 pound carp on the fly. this year i topped out at 17, but i've seen a few that i'm sure were in the low 20s. couple that with a spring trip to MN and i just might have a shot at a 20 lber.

good luck to everyone this year, i hope we all have a good year fishing!

Resolution: Hmmmm !

For 2006 don't sweat the little stuff. :jester:

Actually for a few years now I have been trying to figure out how to get more and more out of this very short life. When I think of all the time I have spend whinning about nothing it really [petunias!] me off. :bricks:

1. Catch a steelhead on a new stream. I would like it to be the Sandy or Klickitat.
2. Use the new spey rod a lot.
3. Fish the Metolius more this year.
4. Figure our SilverFly's secret spot.

I can be bribed!!

My big goal for 2006 is to catch (land) 200 plus fish (I'm talking steelhead and salmon). I hooked over 200 fish in 2004 but didn't land that many. 2005 was dismal...

I have one resolution, and it is the same as this years, though I don't think the weather is cooperating enough to accomplish it this year.

The resolution is: Catch a steelhead on the last day of the year, and consecutively on the first day of the year.

Simple.....
Continue to enjoy myself while out fishing, enjoy the company of good friends and if I manage to hook a few fish along the way then so much the better
The most important resolution though is to continue to be an advocate for wild fish and try to fight for their survival wherever and whenever I can :alert:
