One of the greatest joys of a successful day on the river is bringing home a steelhead, or a beautiful chinook salmon, fresh from the pristine waters of the Oregon Coast!
However.... it can mean hours of labor!
I dreaded the thought of spending my precious evening time cleaning and processing my catch. Most families can't finish off a 40 pound King Salmon in one night!
My finished frozen fish products are far superior since I've gotten my own FoodSaver!
It's the absolute best way to freeze your harvest, whether it be fish, seafood or game!
I remember back to my childhood days, when my Mother would greet my Father with glee, when she saw him pull in the driveway with his catch.
Then the work began.
Her glee turned to sweat and tears, after cleaning a limit of clams, or processing and placing fillet after filet of salmon and steelhead in cold water and storing them in milk cartons.
The times have changed!
I'd like to share with you some ideas, and the time saving value I have found, by purchasing a FoodSaver, the original home vacuum packing system.

I'm sure that my Mother would have welcomed my Father home with a lot more enthusiasm, if she'd been the proud owner of a FoodSaver!

Whether you hunt big game or small, you can enjoy great tasting game for years to come.

You can use the FoodSaver Vacuum Packaging System to package all kinds of game - deer, elk, wild turkey and duck - in individual or family-sized portions. You can even marinate your game before freezing. Then, when you're ready to enjoy it, take just the right amount from the freezer, cook and serve.

This is my favorite lately! I can't tell you how nice it is to open a jar of salmon eggs that I have cured, and have them as fresh as when I put them up, months ago!!

Simply cure your eggs, (as shown here.) Place your cured eggs in a freezer safe wide mouth jar, and use the FoodSaver Jar Sealers.

The FoodSaver Jar Sealers are perfect for removing air from both wide and regular mouth mason jars.

You know the signs of freezer burn. A crust of ice all over your fish or game meat, and an off flavor and texture. Butcher wrapping and water-packing can't prevent freezer burn, but vacuum packaging with the FoodSaver Vacuum Packaging System can.

Vacuum packaging with FoodSaver will keep fish tasting fresh for up to 2 years and game for up to 3 years.

Custom-make FoodSaver Bags to fit almost any size catch.

With FoodSaver, your catch stays fresher longer

A real benefit for boaters

Keep food and equipment dry and protected. Batteries and film won't get waterlogged. And you never know when you might need a dry change of clothes.

Great for camping and hiking

Keep critical gear, like maps, matches and batteries, dry and protected. Vacuum package clothes for a compact backpack.

Perfect for picnics

Fill a FoodSaver Bag with ice and vacuum package. Put it in the cooler and, as the ice melts, you'll have fresh, cold drinking water. Or, refreeze the bag for a reusable ice pack.

FoodSaver's powerful piston pump removes air from patented FoodSaver Bags, FoodSaver Canisters, and many of your own containers using the FoodSaver Universal lid, then seals them airtight.

Removing the air significantly slows deterioration, which means foods last longer, taste fresh longer and won't get freezer burn*.

The secret's in the packaging.
FoodSaver Bags and FoodSaver Rolls have a patented design with special channels to remove the air plus an outer nylon layer to ensure the air stays out. Our FoodSaver Bags go from the freezer to your microwave and stovetop. Plus, they're dishwasher safe and reusable.

Other plastic bags, plastic storage containers, or foil wraps aren't as effective in removing all the air. And they're not nearly as versatile.

When I got first got my FoodSaver, I vac packed nearly everything in the kitchen.
So, with that, I'll leave you with two thoughts:
WARNING:
Nothing is safe in my kitchen from my FoodSaver Vac Pack!
Marshmallows do not like vac packers. :)
