Jennie's Favorite Products
Throughout my years with ifish, I have tried some really great products.
These are just a few that I can't do without!
Check back often, as I don't think I'll ever be finished with this page!

USIA Gear

I've had it happen so many times that it has become frustrating. I get cold, out on the Columbia, or out on Tillamook Bay, or during steelhead season, when ice hangs off the overhanging branches of the North Fork of the Nehalem. I glance down, and expect my casting hand to look the same way.
It can ruin a trip, or at the very least, make it uncomfortable.
That known, you can imagine what a relief it is to know that I am over that! Done! Won't happen again! And it's all thanks to USIA gear! !
I've always been a fleece nut. Not just any fleece, but you know, the quality fleece you feel on some articles of clothing at specialty stores.
The thickest, the softest, the most expensive fleece of all fleeces! I've been known to hold it up to my face, just to feel how soft it is! It's true. It's like your best teddy bear!
You can imagine, then, how incredible it felt to try on my first Exotherm 1. Sixteen ounce fleece covering my whole body! I was told, when I put it on, to wear very little underneath while wearing my dry suit, as moisture will be looking for a place to escape.
I'm finding it hard, at times, to look forward to summer, because I know I won't need to wear this as often. The cold temperatures of this week have been a delight to me. A perfect excuse to wear these, 24/7! Click here...

Glacier Gloves!

Do I ever love these babies! I chose the Kenai model. They are neoprene on the palm side, and really soft fleece on the flip side. The gloves are totally lined in fleece. (Even on the neoprene palm side!) What really got me, when I first slipped them on, is their incredible fit! It is really difficult to tie hooks, or deal with small tackle, with gloves on. Not with these! They fit snug, yet not uncomfortable. When you try them on, make sure to go with a pair that fits you. Do try every size! You can find them at your local Fisherman's Marine, GI Joes, or online, at http://www.glacierglove.com.
The best part about these gloves, is that I can pull the anchor up, and not get wet! It's really unbelievable, but it's true! My hands stay dry! Try them next time you are on the oars. You'll be a happy drifter!
I can stay out longer than most people, now, and you know what that means? I'll be catching more fish!

Marie's Shrimp Scent

Click here for Marie's Shrimp Scent

I've probably written about Marie's shrimp scent more than I've written about any other product! You tend to do that, when a product brings you more landed fish.
It just simply works! I have fished with and without the shrimp scent in a single day, on many different occasions.
It's simple.
I catch fish more consistently when I use Marie's Shrimp Scent.
I probably have 8 bottles around the house, right now. One in the fridge, one in the bait fridge... one in my purse.... :)
You gotta have it!

Nikon 7209 10x25 Premier LX

Finally! I can see!
I have been on the hunt for some really good bincolars that would enable me to bird watch clearly, both close up, and at a distance. I also watned to use these bincolars out on the water.
I found these to be the perfect pair!
Like most homes, we had assorted older binoculars laying around the house. One from my Grandfather, and one from his relatives. Binoculars don't usually wear out, so they are often passed on, from generation to generation. We had three pairs. Why buy new?
I'll tell you why!
Once you experience the newer technology of the Nikon line of binoculars, you will understand!
After recieving my Nikon Premier LX optics, I was sitting at the outdoor table in pure amazement, watching things I had never seen before. Focusing up to 10 feet away, I could make out intricate feather patterns on my American Goldfnch that I had never seen before!

Measuring a scant 4.3" x 3.8" (8x20) and 4.3" x 4.4" (10x25), the two mini binoculars tip the scales at just about 10 ounces each, making them as portable as anything on the planet when it comes to high performance optics.

The Lowrance Ifinder
Well, I finally took the plunge and got a beginners, hand held GPS! I got one (the only one I know of) that has an easy mode, so I don't get too frustrated while I learn! The model I chose is a Lowrance Ifinder. The Ifinder features a 12-Parallel Channel GPS+WAAS with a built-in custom Lowrance background map... and I adore it! It fits my hand perfectly, and I can do everything with one hand, while holding a fishing rod in the other hand!

buy frogg toggs now
View my article on Frogg Toggs, September 17th

By the weight of a pair of Frogg Toggs, you'd never think it would do the trick for Oregon downpours.
I feel almost guilty as I pass up other slow moving fishermen, as they slog through the parking lot, their gear hanging heavy on their shoulders.
One of the things that bother me about heavy rain gear is the inability to move freely while netting, or playing a large fish.
Not with Frogg Toggs!
I know a product is good, if I keep thinking of all the people I care about, and how I can get them into owning some.
Bill and I both own a pair.
So many times, Bill and I have stood in the garage, staring at the mounds of rain gear hanging from the shelves. Ugh. Will it rain? Do we want to pack all that stuff?
Now, if it rains, we simply pull out our Frogg Toggs that are neatly stowed under our boat seats.
Made of a patented 3 layer fabric that prevents water and wind from penetrating, they allow body heat and perspiration to evaporate.
I own the Pro Action Suit, but I simply must have the Pro Angler Suit too!

Mark's First Cast Jigs

First Bite™Jigs LLC

Mark Anderson knows his jigs!
The first time I fished with Mark, I was amazed that he carried 4 or 5 rods down to the river with him. All with different jig setups.
Mark knows his stuff on the river when it comes to jigs, and has taught me so much about jig fishing!
I find that most people who do business with him feel that he is extremely helpful, and teaches you what you need to know, to get out there and get into a fish!
The Owner hooks that Mark uses on his jigs are one of the best hooks available. They are super strong and needle-sharp right out of the box. Best of all is they stay sharp fish after fish. Use First Bite™Jigs LLC and fish with confidence knowing that you have a quality product capable of landing more of the big fish you hook. Once you try one of Mark's jigs, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Tilia FoodSaver

One of the greatest joys of a successful day on the river is bringing home a steelhead, or a beautiful chinook salmon, fresh from the pristine waters of the Oregon Coast!
However.... it can mean hours of labor!
I dreaded the thought of spending my precious evening time cleaning and processing my catch. Most families can't finish off a 40 pound King Salmon in one night!
My finished frozen fish products are far superior since I've gotten my own FoodSaver! It's the absolute best way to freeze your harvest, whether it be fish, seafood or game!
I remember back to my childhood days, when my Mother would greet my Father with glee, when she saw him pull in the driveway with his catch.
Then the work began.
Her glee turned to sweat and tears, after cleaning a limit of clams, or processing and placing fillet after filet of salmon and steelhead in cold water and storing them in milk cartons.
The times have changed!
I'd like to share with you some ideas, and the time saving value I have found, by purchasing a FoodSaver, the original home vacuum packing system.

Tilia FoodSaver
I'm sure that my Mother would have welcomed my Father home with a lot more enthusiasm, if she'd been the proud owner of a FoodSaver!

TH RODS

Custom built fishing rods are the ultimate in fishing gear. Used by professional fishermen and serious anglers alike, they provide unmatched performance. If you have never fished with a custom built rod, take our word for it...there really is a difference! Rods are individually designed for individual needs, preferences, and circumstances. The initial step in the process is a consultation with the purchaser either in person or over the telephone to determine exactly what options and alternatives need to be considered. The rod is then designed to accommodate those personal requirements. We believe that TH Custom Rods should look distinctive as well as provide exceptional performance; therefore, all components are carefully coordinated.

Scott Amerman's eggs.... Well, I've outfished some mighty legendary fishermen with these eggs. I mean, I limited out on a five fish day before they had a two fish.
I know. Embarrassing, dude! You have to try these eggs! What more can I say? :)
