Gladys Rosalie Nygren. She doesn't go by Gladys though. And many know her as Rosalie Rogers. Stop by and tell her hi from Jennie! |
The "Land Captain of Hammond" has been providing support for fisherman at the mouth of the Columbia River since she was old enough to walk. The daughter of commercial fisherman, daughter in-law of Point Adams Packing Company founder, Owner and founder of Fort Stevens Center and Fort Stevens Charters, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who knows more about fishing out of Hammond, Oregon. Surrounded by memorabilia from that past, she'll help you with everything from what bait to use, where to fish, and the latest news is. |
She's unmistakable in her Captain's Hat (a Coast Guard Dress Uniform Hat) she's been photographed by National Geographic with a sign advertising her "Blessed Herring". If it has to do with Columbia River fishing, she's can point you in the right direction. She enjoys those who fish more than any other. All she asks is that you buy a package of bait, hooks, ice or groceries while your there and bring a fishing story of your own.
